STEPS TO BECOMING A FOSTER PARENT

Complete and return the Foster Application, including the criminal history forms for all family members 14 years of age and older.  Angelheart will provide you with community related resources for training, as well as training facilitated by the Angelheart Staff.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Foster Parent. This is a big commitment with big rewards! Our children need loving, stable homes. You may contact any agency in your area to become license. We work with Angelheart hear in Region 7. With your help, you can be licensed within the next 60-90 days. (Once licensed, you can decided when to open your home for child placments.) Angelheart will contact you within 1 – 3 business days & request an FBI background check 

STEP 3

You will receive an email to schedule your FBI fingerprinting. It’s quick and easy! Schedule & get fingerprinted.

STEP 4

Within a few days of fingerprinting, Angelheart will get the results and contact you to set up your trainings and provide additional documentation. The trainngs are extremely helpful!

STEP 5

Work with Angelheart to obtain CPR & First Aid Certification (done annually)

STEP 6

Work with Angelheart to schedule a Health Inspection AND Fire Inspection of your home (Don’t panic! They check for safety concerns and let you know if anything needs correcting.)

STEP 7

Angelheart will order a homestudy. You will answer a TON of questions! A provider will visit your home and speak with all family members. Don’t be nervous; it’s a lot, just be yourself.

STEP 8

Congratulations! Your home study is reviewed, and you will receive your license for placements of 1 – 6 children, ages 0-18 based on your home study and desires. 

STEP 9

Decide on the date to officially “OPEN” your home and begin receiving calls. (You can place your home on hold later.)

STEP 10

Receive your 1st placment and begin making a positive difference in the life of a child(or children)!

NOTE: When you get the call that a child(or siblings) needs of a home, you get to review their information and ask questions before deciding if this placement is right for your home. If your answer is YES, it’s still not done. Each family (from multiple agencies) that said yes will have their home study reviewed to determine the best placement for the child(ren). If your home is selected, the caseworker will coordinate with you.
